Valentine's Day

Tomorrow is 14th February and it's Valentine's Day. For next lesson, I would like you to look some information about this date and answer the following questions:

1. Why is Valentine's Day celebrated?
2. Who was Saint Valentine?
3. What do people do to celebrate it?
4. Share a love poem/quote, song or video you like.

    Valentine´s Day is celebrated the 14th of February. It is known as a day on which lovers show their love through gifts, letters, poems or dedications.

    There are several theories that give this date the origin of Valentine's Day. In the Nordic countries during this time are paired and breeding birds, so this period is seen as a symbol of love and creation.
    Some believe it is a Christian festival, as in ancient Rome was made the worship of the god of love. Its Greek name was Eros, but the Romans called him Cupid. This celebration is called for the favors of God through gifts or offerings to try to find the ideal love.

    Saint Valentine was a Christian priest, at the injustice of the marriage between soldiers, decides to marry couples under the Christian ritual of the Roman eyes.

    Here you are a love poem:
    Roses are red,
    Violets are blue,
    Sugar is sweet
    And so are you.

      1-Held on February 14 where loving couples express their love and affection to each other.
      2-His name is Valentine of Terni.
      3-They give away love notes called "valentines" with shapes of hearts or cupids. Also red roses given away to people who have special affection.
      4-May cloud the sun forever;
      May be dried in an instant the sea;
      May break the axis of the Earth
      As a weak glass.
      All happen! Can death
      Cover me with your funeral crape;
      But you can never shut me
      The flame of your love

    1.Valentine´s Day is celebrated the 14th of February. is celebrated because is the day the St. Valentine's day.

    2.San Valentín refers to one of three holy Roman martyrs of the century three of controversial existence, which they lived in the former Rome. The festivity of san Valentín was celebrated by the Catholic Roman Church every February 14 until 1969 in the liturgical traditional calendar.
